DEMASQ

Adoption of the KIS system provides benefits to all of the major parties involved in the identification and management of knee damage or injury:

Patients

Accessing advanced medical imaging services is difficult for many patients worldwide. The KIS system allows a patient to have his/her knee complaint rapidly assessed following a single digital X-ray session. This could significantly reduce the number of time and cost required to determine the most appropriate therapeutic intervention.

Hospital / Insurer

Implementation of the KIS system offers the potential to reduce the number of patient visits required for each knee complaint.  This may help reduce waiting times and improve the throughput of patients in specialist orthopedic clinics.  It will also help relieve pressure on MRI equipment which is a common bottleneck in the assessment and management of knee damage or degeneration in the UK.  By doing so, the KIS system could contribute to the improvements in resource utilization and cost efficiency that are sought by Hospitals and Insurers.

Medical Specialist

Adoption of the KIS system by medical specialists will allow them to make an early, fast, straightforward assessment of both the bone and soft tissues of the knee joint. This should allow the specialist to rapidly decide on an appropriate intervention and reduce the the need for multiple patient visits and imaging procedures. It will also help the specialist to perform invasive surgical procedures only when absolutely necessary.

Radiologists

Visualization of intimate detail of the knees’ soft tissue is very difficult using grayscale images. The KIS system will allow the radiologist to provide GPs / Physicians and specialists with more insight into knee health by visualizing both bone and soft tissue detail.

GP / Primary Physician

By providing a tool that accelerates and improves the identification of knee soft tissue degeneration or damage the GP / Physician will be able to offer improved patient care.  This improved service will reduce the likelihood of unnecessary patient visits and may therefore help contribute to reducing waiting lists.

Physiotherapist / Healthcare practitioner

A KIS image assists a physiotherapist to rapidly assess the health of the knee joint, thereby allowing rapid decision-making on an appropriate physiotherapy program.
